Implementations policies

The study area is located north-southwards from the historical centre as far as the suburbs of S. Rocco district; it is included among Corso Milano, the railway to Como and Lecco, Lambro river and Cascinazza rural park. In particular, the Municipality has already foreseen: a new entrance, from east, to the central railway station (bike-pedestrian connection from Piazza Castello to S. Rocco roads, along Lambro river); one stop of the Metropolitana Milanese (underground) at Bettola (1st lot), at the old Fossati & Lamperti (2nd lot and/or metro-tramway) and a future possible system’s railway station at the old Fossati & Lamperti (interchange centre and junction). In the wider area of study, as above defined, there are two more municipal estates (TPM deposit and the building of the Justice of the Peace to be rehabilitated in the context of the existing service-office-production district with a new railway’s stop) having functions to be replaced in any case. Public and private functions at high functional mix and wide areas of environment preservation (Lambro river park) should be planned. The proposal must define the intervention policies functional to the implementation of the project and the rehabilitation of the housing system having its own pedestrian centralities and of services.

After the competition: the Municipality foresees a technical commission to define the ways of work and choose, among the prize-winning projects, those considered interesting and invite the planners to a workshop.
